International Travel Appointment Form

Travelling internationally with your pet? We can help!

Our process/what we provide

We can help fill out CFIA international health certificate/export paperwork prepare and provide vaccine certificate(s) (if we gave the vaccines), parasite treatment, bloodwork, microchipping, etc.

We have a mandatory two-step appointment process, to ensure both parties have all the necessary info to accurately fill out required forms/create certificates where necessary.

The first appointment should be booked as soon as you are aware that you are wanting to travel internationally with your pet, and the second to be booked as advised by the doctor – typically within 10-14 days of departure. Shortly after your final visit with us, you will need to have an appointment with the CFIA to have the paperwork endorsed by an official CFIA veterinarian. It is recommended to pre-book this appointment, as they have limited availability. Typically, this appointment happens within 48 hours after you see us for the last visit, so we have time to make any corrections, if necessary.

Information for you to gather prior to your appointment

Refer to the CFIA website for paperwork/travel requirements, listed by country. We will provide the necessary export form(s), printed on appropriately sized paper.

If your pet’s vaccines were done at another clinic, please request any required vaccine certificate(s) directly from them, as we cannot provide vaccine certificate(s) for a pet that we did not vaccinate. Ensure that the information on the certificate(s) match your information in our system (such as name/address/pets DOB, etc), and that the name on the certificate is the same as the person travelling with the pet.

Important things to keep in mind

Ensure that you have an airline-approved crate/carrier. Refer here for some tips on picking the correct carrier. Your specific airline may have their own requirements; it is always advised to double check with them before travelling.

Required timelines – if necessary, some countries require vaccines to be updated a certain number of days before travel, and if required for entry, bloodwork such as vaccine titres FAVN tests can take up to 6 weeks to receive results. Ensure you are giving yourself, and us, enough time to meet any deadlines.

Microchipping – many countries require a microchip to be given prior to vaccines, and for the vaccine certificate(s) to state that the microchip has been scanned prior to administration. If any vaccines do not meet your destination country’s requirements, it is advised to book in for updated shots ASAP.

If this all seems a bit too daunting, there are specific pet-travel agencies that can help, such as Worldwide Animal Travel.

Before we can proceed, please fill out this preparation form, even if you are an existing client. We will reach out to you to schedule the first appointment.
