Nutrition Counselling for Pets

Guidance on nutrition to support and maintain your pet's overall health and well-being.

We believe in the power of nutrition. That’s why we are happy to offer all of our clients the services of our trained nutrition consultant, Alli. She can provide you with solutions to dietary problems that you may be facing with your pet. When there are complex issues to work on, we can also seek the advice of veterinary nutritionists at Royal Canin or Hill’s. Feel free to email her here.

What brands of food should my cat or dog be on?

While there are dozens of pet food companies in North America, only a few such as Royal Canin and Hill’s, have the highest quality control on their ingredients or perform any real research into pet nutrition. Royal Canin and Hill’s have a wide selection of excellent diets for many conditions, including obesity, arthritis, kidney disease, diabetes, food allergies and gastrointestinal issues. Many disease conditions can be controlled through diets and reducing the need for many medications. It may surprise you to know that our prescription diets are generally no more costly than many of the “designer” pet foods sold in pet stores, and they include an informed recommendation based on your pet’s medical history and concerns. A visit with one of our veterinarians will help determine what diet will best suit your pet based on their needs.

Why is nutritional counselling important?

During a nutrition consultation, a professional will assess your pet's current diet and provide suggestions based on their individual nutritional requirements. As every pet has different nutritional needs, our team can customize a dietary plan specifically for your pet. Additionally, this is an opportunity for pet owners to ask questions about introducing new foods or raise concerns about any changes they have observed in their pets' eating behavior.

How does my pet’s food impact their health?

Pets require a balanced and healthy diet, similar to humans, to maintain good health and wellbeing. A proper diet can provide essential nutrients, support immune function, maintain a healthy weight, prevent nutritional deficiencies, manage medical conditions, and promote dental health.
